To try and switch things up, I am sharing another workout you can do anywhere, anytime aka right now after you finish reading this (?), but I also want to review some new adidas gear I recently received.

Yes, I hopped on the holes-y leggings trend.  And, no joke, I wore these leggings to Relay for Life at my college, and within 1 hour, 5 people had complimented them. I LOVE.  Plus, perfect ventilation for those #shweaty workouts like the one at the end of the post.  These warp knit items are seamless and constructed to wick sweat and allow for movement in the right areas.

Cardio + Strength Outdoor Total Body Workout

All of the workouts I have been sharing over the past few months with you have been relatively similar, so today I’m switching it up, we are going back to basics. Are you ready? Don’t underestimate the simplicity of this workout– remember these moves have been around for so long for a reason!

Put your hair up, find a spot where you can run and have some square footage to stop and #WorkIt and let’s get to this.

The workout:

  • 5 x sprint 20 seconds + walk 20 seconds
  • 25 bodyweight squats
  • 20 pushups
  • plank 45 seconds – 1 minute

Perform 4 rounds of the above.

“Bachelorette” Workout Round 2

Last week’s “Bachelorette Workout” was such a hit that I just had to bring it back with an updated version for the … drum roll please…. HOME TOWN VISITS!

This one is updated to ensure that you not only get a wonderful workout in, but have fun while doing it.  I don’t know about you but last week’s episode flew by while doing the workout along with it and I felt so much better than I do when I typically slouch on the couch eating popcorn.  Also  the messages, DM’s, and Instagram posts I saw were hilarious!

Five Workout Songs to Add to Your Playlist

Confession: I have used the same iPod– yes, with the same 30 or so songs– since I started working out about 5 years ago.  Even worse: it is one of those tiny square iPod shuffles that clips to your clothing. #IAmADinosaur  O.K. actually, I lied, it is not the same one, I lost my original one (it was found in my old shoes 3 months later LOL!) and bought a ‘new’ one, the same version.

Why fix something that’s not broken, ya know?

BUT, before you music fiends get mad at me, I do teach spin, and I do make a new playlist for each workout I teach AKA 3-4 per week, so I am up to date on workout music DON’T WORRY! I just really enjoy my tried and trusted playlist.

  • run .5 mile (stop somewhere pretty for the circuit!)

Workout Challenge

Workout Challenge

 

Spontaneous days are the best days.  I don’t know exactly why, there is just something about them that I just LOVE!  I’m sure it has something to do with the fact that I am  aggressively a type A person so I live such a scheduled, ‘to the tee’ life, that spontaneity is rare so when it comes it is like AAAAHHHH hi.  Does anyone else love spontaneity as much as I do??

So my morning consisted of running down ~2 miles to the Ithaca Farmers Market.  And, when I say run down… I litttttraly (name the show?!) live on top of a mountain, so its more of a “hope my legs move forward fast enough and I don’t eat shit” kind of run.

(The run wasn’t spontaneous, that’s a weekly thing with one of my best friends– actually I LIVE for the Ithaca Farmers Market, it’s heaven)

Every week, I get the red bean balls (slang name, lmk if you know the real name because they have achieved status of being my favorite food in the world).

Pure heaven-sent-god-like-ness.

As we were walking back up (straight up.. ) the gorgeous gorge trail, we spotted a flat rock in the middle of the water-y area (see videos on IG because I am so stellar at describing things as you can tell).  We were in the middle of a conversation debating if we had time before she had work to go to the gym, so  jokingly at first, we were like “that would be fun to workout on”, and then me, being me, was like YEP LET’S DO IT, so we did! ( I love you for being my person, Heather– I know you read these 😉 )

ANDDDD VIOLA here is the spontaneous workout we ended up doing in the middle of a gorge.

At one point, a lady walking the trail AND I QUOTE “Wow, turned the corner and saw two fannies in the air!! Good Morning!” 

Workout goes like this: set a timer for 15 minutes and do as many rounds as possible.  Rest 1-2 minutes and then do the same thing with the second set of exercises.

the workout

SET 1: 10 burpees, 30 russian twists, 30 high knee foot taps, 5 incline pushups

SET 2: 15 squat jumps, 24 walking lunges, 30 high step ups, 20 ab bicycles each side
