Lazy days, let’s talk about ’em

I’ve done tons of posts about the importance of pampering yourself, of spending time alone, and of taking time off the grind.  Missed ’em? Don’t worry, I got you!

I Hit A Mental Wall, Here Is How I Got Over It

Taking a Break: How & Why You Should

And, to be completely transparent with you, I have neglected that over the past few months.  I got caught up in being in a new city, with new people,  a new job, and with a new outlook on social media/life (peep the new IG@colbylivesfit)  While it was an incredible summer and I have been changed two-fold for the better (post to come about that soon) there was one point I can distinctly remember of which not taking time for myself and being alone caught up to me.

Flash to about 3 weeks ago …  I was hit with a horrible migraine–  my body’s way of telling  me

Hey girl, take a chill pill!

It’s not that I was running around with my head cut off, I was doing everything that made me beam, but I hadn’t slowed down, and I needed to … we all need to.

So, unplug and self love night commenced.

Enter:  Peapod — yes, I started with getting my groceries delivered.

The delivery has arrived!

In reality, it is so stressful to get groceries in the city.  First you have to walk 5 bags a mile home as a farmers carry.  Then, proceed to carry them up 7 flights of stairs because ya girl has a vestibular disorder and cannot ride elevators.  So, getting them delivered on my unplugged night was a no-brainer.

Now, to Peapod! Peapod is a  dope grocery delivery service that essentially is equivalent to shopping at the store, they just do it for you.  And then, they deliver them promptly to your doorstep.  As a major bonus, Peapod offers 60 days of free delivery to new customers.

Peapod features

  1. Express Shop
  2. Coupon / Discount central — between the coupons and the free delivery, my groceries came to about $20 cheaper than they normally do
  3. Sort features
  4. Fresh  produce
  5. Door to door  (<– my favorite)

Grocery haul:

As I was typing this, I realized that I often share recipes with you on Facebook, but I have never shared my weekly summer grocery haul, so get pumped:

Ground turkey, chicken, bananas, plantains, eggs,  egg whites, carrots, letttuce, canned tomatoes, nut butter, figs, kombucha, fruit juice (for smoothies), avocados, random bars to try.

I am crossing my fingers that Peapod delivers to Ithaca this school year– made my life so easy. And,  if you are interested, feel free to use the service finder here, and sign up so you can get your first 60-days of free delivery, plus $20 off your first order.

More of the haul

In this haul, un-pictured because I don’t buy them weekly, was also Minute Maid® Lemonade and  FUZE® tea which I was getting for a fun, refreshing beach drank with my girls.  Must also mention how pumped I was to not have to carry 2 12-packs of cans home from the store, especially with those heavy vegetables 😀

Fruit-y half & half recipe:

Per drink:

Summer Bucket List

Summer Bucket List

You know me… all about setting goals.  I set a goal every morning when I wake up, I set a goal at the beginning of each week, I set a goal before I do pretty much anything.  It keeps me focused and gives me an end result to work for– this is something I spend a few days focusing on in the 21 Day Power Up: a step by step mindset makeover to conquer your YMY journey.

So, today whilst (is that the proper usage? not actually sure, but sounded fancy) lying on the beach I decided I wanted to make a summer bucket list…. for the one last week I have left at home. LOL. #Ambition
When you realize you only have a week left….

Watch the sunset. #classic

Watch the sunrise. #StillClassic

Skinny dip in the ocean.

Drink all smoothies all day.

Run every morning and jump in the ocean directly after.

Read a book cover to cover without moving my butt from where it started.

Ignore my phone and technology for an entire day.  #BeOneWithTheUniverse

Spend an entire day with each of my parents.

OK. Yeah, I’m going to stop there and get started on these. THE COUNTDOWN IS ON!  I want to know:

What is one thing you want to do before you go back to school?
